How Your Shipment Is Covered

Cover is provided through our partners FreightSafe and Freight Insure, and applies to shipments within Australia.

Included With Every Standard Booking

Standard bookings come with a transit warranty of up to $350 at no extra cost. If your shipment is lost or damaged in transit, you can claim up to that amount, on the warranty's terms.

Extra Cover for Higher-Value Shipments

If what you're sending is worth more than $350, you can add extra cover of up to $100,000. You choose the amount at checkout, and the price is shown before you pay.

Cover is subject to the transit warranty’s full terms, including its inclusions, exclusions and limits.

Adding Extra Cover at Checkout

When you book, choose your cover on the checkout screen, using the cover option, before you pay. Select the amount that matches the value of what you're sending.

Extra cover can't be added once your shipment has been picked up, so choose it when you book.

What Isn't Covered

Some items and losses aren't covered by the transit warranty or by extra cover:

  • Currency and negotiable instruments
  • Antiques and works of art
  • Drugs and weapons
  • Live animals and plants
  • Cigarettes, tobacco and tobacco-related products
  • Valuables and documents
  • Personal effects, and items of sentimental value or that can't be replaced
  • Dangerous goods in Class 1 (explosives), Class 4.2 (substances liable to spontaneous combustion), Class 6.2 (infectious substances) and Class 7 (radioactive material)
  • Consequential loss, such as lost sales or profits caused by a delay or loss

This is a summary. If you’re unsure whether something is covered, contact us before you book.

Protect Your Claim Before You Send

Declare the Right Size and Weight

Enter the packed size and weight accurately when you quote. If what the courier collects doesn't match what you declared, the price can change, and it can complicate a claim.

Pack It Properly

Use a strong box, cushion the item on every side and fill any empty space. Good packing protects your item and your claim.

Keep Proof of Value

You'll need the supplier or cost invoice to claim, so keep it. Take photos of the item and the packed box before pickup.

Declare Dangerous Goods

If your shipment contains dangerous goods, such as aerosols or batteries, tick the DG box when you quote. Some dangerous goods can't be covered at all.

How to Make a Claim

Start by checking your parcel's latest status with our Track a Parcel tool. If it's lost or arrives damaged, keep the item and all packaging, and take photos straight away.

Then email your claim to pacer@freightsafe.com, with:

  • your consignment number
  • proof of value, such as the supplier or cost invoice
  • photos of the damaged item and the outer packaging

Claims must be lodged within these time limits:

  • Delivered, and damage was noted when it was signed for: 7 calendar days
  • Delivered, and signed for with no damage noted: 1 business day
  • Not delivered: 14 calendar days from the pickup date

Tip: if a delivery looks damaged, note it when you sign for it. You get more time to claim.
